The couple first met at Florida State University in 1990.  Their roommates that year, Carl Dickson and Laurie Blanchfield, eventually married, while Jeff and Wendy graduated and kept in touch as casual acquaintances.   Wendy moved to Atlanta and Jeff to Orlando.

Their paths crossed again in 1995 when Wendy relocated to Orlando and began work for BellSouth Mobility.  During 1996, Wendy started to use Jeff's mother as a contractor to create signs and banners for various events.  The relationship kept Wendy closely associated with the Clark household.  In the fall of 1996, after several formal lunch 'dates', the couple began officially dating the night of Halloween.  The relationship continued to blossom, but in August, 1997, Jeff moved to Arlington, Texas to pursue a new career with First Rate Investment Systems.

They dated long distance for six months and in April, 1998, Jeff moved to Atlanta to open a sales office for First Rate.  At almost the same time, Wendy was promoted and took a new position with BellSouth Cellular in Atlanta. 

On May 20, 1998, Jeff presented Wendy with a ring originally worn by Wendy's grandmother and asked her to marry somewhere over the Atlantic as they flew to England.   The flight was memorable for a variety of reasons, including the participation of the airline stewardesses and the captain.

Married on March 6, 1999, the couple returned to their newly purchased "fixer upper" and proceeded to completely renovate the home, while enjoying a great neighborhood and establishing some terrific friendships in the Atlanta area.

After two years in Atlanta, the couple decided to relocated to Austin, Texas in pursuit of a new career opportunity for Wendy at GSD&M Advertising Agency.  Jeff was able to keep his job with First Rate Investment Systems.
